Jos Buttler, England’s limited-overs skipper, has urged his colleagues to keep playing good attacking cricket despite the inherent danger. In the rain-affected second ODI against South Africa in Manchester, the wicketkeeper-batter thought it was their aggressive approach that helped them to a winning score.

England won the 2nd game and levelled the 3-match ODI series against South Africa. They beat SA by 118 runs on Friday in Manchester. Despite a slow start, the hosts were able to reach 201 in 29 overs thanks to cameos from Liam Livingstone, David Willey, and Sam Curran.

The Guys Are Bowling Really Well: Jos Buttler

Despite the tremendous victory, England captain Gareth Southgate stated that the squad still has room for growth. The 30-year-old also praised the bowlers and agreed with Jonny Bairstow’s assessment.

“Its paramount guys continue to try and play in the fashion we want to as a team. Can we do it better? Absolutely. But that positivity got us up to a score that now looks great. I know we can improve but that will consistently be the message. I want guys to back themselves and take risks.

“We’re trying to ourselves on the opposition and put pressure back on them. These guys are bowling brilliantly. We spoke at the break and Jonny Bairstow felt it wasn’t easy to score runs in the powerplay if we bowled a good length and we would make it tough for them,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

Sam Curran, the event’s player of the match, smashed 35 runs in 18 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes, and adding 43 off 21 balls with Livingstone. He later returned with a 2-0-5-1 record.
