England captain Jos Buttler continued his poor run of form in the ICC World Cup 2023 as he fell early against Sri Lanka. The 25th match of the tournament is taking place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

England won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they aren???t having the kind of start they would???ve wanted. After early wickets, it was expected that skipper Jos Buttler would take the responsibility and score big but this wasn???t the case as was back in the hut early.

Lahiru Kumara bowled a full delivery outside off to which Jos Buttler got forward. The ball took the thick outside edge and it was flying away. However, keeper Kusal Mendis put in a magnificent dive to his right and gobbled the ball with both hands.

Jos Buttler managed just 8 runs off 6 balls and his wicket left England tottering. This was the third time in the tournament when the keeper-batter was back in the same way. His scalp left his team tottering at 77/4 and pressure is clearly visible on their faces.

England are desperate for a win here as they already have lost three games out of their four matches. They can???t afford to lose a game as it would mean that their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals would be dented. They need to win all their games from now.

The pacer bowled a nip backer on the stumps to which Liam Livingstone tried to flick away. He played across the line and was hit on the pads. The batter was trapped lbw and managed just 1 run. With his wicket, England were left tottering at 85/5. The onus will now be on Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali to take the team to the high total and help them win.
