Shreyas Iyer is only a few runs away from breaking Rohit Sharma's record as Team India's T20I captain. Iyer may have the opportunity to surpass the former India captain's record on Saturday (October 24), when the India National Cricket Team will be up against the New Zealand National Cricket Team for the second T20I match of the ongoing bilateral series.
The current T20I captain of the Indian cricket team, Iyer, needs only 25 runs to break Rohit Sharma's record. If Iyer could score 25 runs in this format as the captain, then he will become the Indian captain in the T20 International format with the highest number of runs in a single calendar year.

Currently, Rohit Sharma remains at the top of the list with his stunning batting display in 2022. That year, the opener finished the calendar year as the T20I format captain with 656 runs for India. Iyer now has 632 runs. Therefore, he needs only 25 runs to surpass the former skipper. Shreyas Iyer is likely to overtake Rohit Sharma in the ongoing series against New Zealand.

The India captain is only 58 runs away from touching Harry Brook's numbers this year.
