The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has shared a special post for their IPL 2025 winners, featuring Virat Kohli, that left one and all in splits. On June 3, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the IPL 2025 final to lift their maiden title in Ahmedabad.

England’s Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, and Jacob Bethell were part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the recently concluded IPL 2025. However, Jacob Bethell missed the IPL 2025 playoffs after being named in England's ODI squad for the home series against the West Indies.

But Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone played till the end and contributed to the RCB’s success this season, as they ended their 17-year-long wait by lifting their maiden IPL title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Even Salt had to fly back home for the birth of his child and then returned to Ahmedabad for the IPL 2025 finals against PBKS.

Meanwhile, the ECB shared a series of pictures from the IPL 2025, including the finals, featuring the England stars, but one thing caught everyone’s attention: they shared several pictures of Virat Kohli in their congratulatory post for the RCB for ending their title drought.

ECB's 'Our IPL Winners' star-studded post goes viral

Interestingly, the ECB called Virat Kohli “our IPL champion,” which left many to speculate their theories. Sharing a series of pictures on Instagram, the ECB wrote in the caption, “Our IPL winners 🏆 Congratulations, @RoyalChallengers.Bengaluru 👏”

Notably, Salt has recently taken a paternity break for the ongoing three-match ODI series against the West Indies at home.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has already retired from Test cricket and T20I cricket, but he is in London, so it will be interesting to see whether Virat Kohli turns up to cheer for India when they take on England in the upcoming five-match Test series.

  • Was any official permission taken for the event?
  • Was there a crowd control plan or any guidelines to manage over 50,000 people?
  • What steps were taken to manage traffic around the stadium?

  • What medical support and facilities were arranged at the venue?
  • Was there any estimate of how many people would attend the celebration?
