Pakistani pacer Ali Raza has now become the youngest Pakistani cricketer to pick a hat-trick in the history of the Pakistan Super League.
The Pakistan Super League includes many big names with the ball, and many have made it to the national team in recent times. However, the player who has made it to the PSL with immense anticipation behind him is Pakistani youngster Ali Raza.
Raza came into the limelight with his performances in the U19 World Cup and his infamous arguments with the Indian batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. While Sooryavanshi is taking IPL by storm, Raza has been a fine talent in the PSL.
Ali Raza shocks Karachi Kings with a hat-trick
The Pakistani pacer, who is just 18 years old, has shocked the nation with his stunning performance. He picked up a hat trick and became the youngest to have reached this feat. He has been naming records for himself since the ICC U19 World Cup in 2026.
Bowling to Karachi finisher Khusdil Shah, he dismissed him hit wicket and then followed it with the wickets of S. Aziz and Hasan Ali, completing his first-ever hat trick. Raza was the Peshawar Zalmi's best wicket-getter with four wickets in the game.
He dismissed legendary Australian batter and the captain of the Karachi Kings, David Warner, which was the first breakthrough in the game.
Khushdil Shah was dismissed 'hit wicket' off Ali Raza's bowling
While batting first, the English opener Jason Roy returned to the Pakistan Super League and played a fine knock at the top of the innings. However, what happened with Ali Raza at the end of the innings was a rare instance.
Khushdil Shah, the Pakistani left-handed batter, backed himself to hit Ali Raza for a boundary. The Pakistan youngster was bowling at high pace, and Khushdil attempted to get high on his backfoot. After having hit the ball, he clipped the bails off with his backfoot.
He was dismissed and was declared out hit wicket by the umpires after they confirmed it with the third umpire. This was followed by two more pace on deliveries, and he uprooted the stumps of Shahid Aziz and Hasan Ali.
Peshawar Zalmi extended their undefeated streak in the PSL
Peshawar Zalmi have been on a stunning streak under the skipper Babar Azam, who has also been scoring many runs in the competition. Zalmi have won 8 out of their nine matches in this season of the competition.
After Jason Roy's half-century and a quickfire 35 from Azam Khan, the Karachi Kings could post a target of 182 runs in their 20 overs. In return, Zalmni opened with Babar Azam and James Vince.
However, Kusal Mendis once again remained the starlet of their chase as he contributed with 80 unbeaten runs and put on a stunning partnership with Farhan Yousaf, who scored 58 off just 36 balls.
Kusal Mendis went on to score 493 runs across 8 matches and has averaged 70.43, while his skipper Babar has amassed 426 runs in the same number of matches. Sufiyan Mukeem is the highest wicket-taker as well with 18 wickets from eight matches.
