Varun Chakravarthy left a statement on the pitch during the ongoing 1st of the three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan. Chakravarthy was among the bowlers who made their return for the India National Cricket Team after battling with fitness-related issues.
Ahead of the 2026 Asian Games and the ODI World Cup in 2027, his return to form is crucial for the team. Varun Chakravarthy proved his worth by uprooting the leg stump of the middle-order Afghanistan National Cricket Team batter Darwish Rasooli.
Varun Chakravarthy clean bowled Afghanistan batter Darwish Rasooli
On the sixth delivery of the seventh over of the first innings, Chakravarthy kept the ball slightly on the fuller length, which turned sharply into the batter. It was a fast delivery from the spinner, which tricked the batter.
As the ball was pitched fuller, the batter could have easily played it on the front foot, but Darwish Rasooli stayed on his back foot to push the ball to the leg side. The right-hander misjudged the line, spin, and speed of the ball completely, which costed his wicket.
Varun Chakravarthy hit the leg stump of the batter; India got his fifth wicket of the match, and Afghanistan was in deep trouble at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
