There was a huge sigh of relief for England as their captain Ben Stokes is set to be back in the team for the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Stokes' comeback was confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). England will play a three-match Test series against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on October 7.

Stokes was a part of Northern Superchargers in this season's Hundred. However, his tenure was short-lived as he injured his hamstring during the match between Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals.

As a result, he was ruled out of the rest of the home season which involved a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Ollie Pope was promoted to the role of England captain in Stokes' absence and led the home team to a 2-1 win in the series.
