England, on Sunday (November 12), announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. The reigning ODI and T20I world champions are scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20Is against the Caribbean outfit in December.

Only six players from the World Cup squad have been picked in the squad for the upcoming series. England have had a disappointing campaign in the World Cup as they finished in the seventh spot with just 3 wins from 9 games. Jos Buttler has also retained his captaincy for the upcoming series. There were rumors suggesting that the ECB might sack the wicketkeeper-batsman as the captain of the team after the poor World Cup campaign.

Apart from Jos Buttler, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone have retained their spots in the ODI team. The players who have faced the axe are – Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Adil Rashid and Mark Wood.

Stokes was not expected to be a part of the squad as he had come out of the ODI retirement just for the World Cup while David Willey had already announced that he would retire after the World Cup. Uncapped fast bowlers Josh Tongue and John Turner have found a place in both the squads.
