The England National Cricket Team is currently hosting the Pakistan National Cricket Team in a three-match Test series, which is set to end on September 13, and two days after that, they will host the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team for a full white-ball series. Now, ahead of the series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the squad for both ODIs and T20Is.
The Three Lions have already won the series against Pakistan, and the third Test match is just a dead rubber, as they are already leading 2-0. Under Brendon McCullum, the white-ball side recently defeated the India National Cricket Team, winning the T20I series one-sided 4-0 and the ODI series 2-1. They will look to dominate a weaker Sri Lanka side.
England miss out big names as Aneurin Donald gets maiden call-up
Harry Brook remains the captain of the side, as he will lead the side once again right after finishing the Test series. The selectors have named two 16-player squads for the upcoming Vitality IT20 and Metro Bank ODI series against Sri Lanka. There has been one new name who has received his first call-up, opener Aneurin Donald.
Phil Salt is sidelined with a quad injury, while Jacob Bethell underwent knee surgery and is set to return for the white-ball series against Australia in November. Sam Curran, who suffered a groin injury, underwent surgery and is set to miss the remainder of the summer season for the Three Lions.
Henry Crocombe gets a reward for County performances
Jamie Overton makes a comeback to both squads after missing the white-ball series against India earlier this summer due to a thigh injury. His inclusion will be crucial for the side with Sam Curran out; he provides stability in the lower middle order with the bat.
Henry Crocombe, the uncapped seamer also been included in the ODI squad. He has been bowling well in the ongoing County season as he picked up a fifer for Sussex in the last game he played in the Championship.

Marcus North, the ECB chief selector, revealed that the two youngsters, Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe, have been impressive in domestic cricket and thus have been called to the national side.
Marcus North, England Men's National Selector, said: “Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe are two promising players who have earned their places on the back of impressive performances in domestic cricket.
“Aneurin has had an exceptional season for Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast and also with Trent Rockets in The Hundred while Henry is a player that we have had an eye on all summer.”
