Indian opener Prithvi Shaw stormed a marvellous double century in England’s One-Day Cup 2023. Prithvi Shaw, who is part of Northamptonshire in England One-Day Cup 2023, shattered 244 runs in an encounter against Somerset to script history.
Prithvi Shaw had a forgetful IPL season this year. Playing for Delhi Capitals (DC), the right-handed batsman got out for poor scores in the first few games of IPL 2023. Due to his batting failures, he was also dropped from the playing XI later. However, the 23-year-old has silenced his critics with his impeccable knock in England One-Day Cup.

With his 244-run knock in England One-Day Cup, Prithvi Shaw scripted the record for the highest individual knock in the history of England’s domestic tournament. The opening batter broke Ollie Robinson’s previous record of 204 runs, which the England batter scored in the tournament last year.

Prithvi Shaw shattered 244 runs off just 153 balls during his spectacular knock. He also broke many List-A records. He started slowly to reach his century off 81 balls. Later, he showcased a hard-hitting style to reach his double century off 129 deliveries.
Ultimately, the Indian youngster got out for 244, smacking 28 boundaries and 11 sixes during his knock. With 304 runs in 3 games in England One-Day Cup so far, Shaw has become the leading run-getter in the domestic tournament.

Northamptonshire Defeat Somerset By 87 Runs
Northamptonshire also outplayed Somerset by 87 runs in the match. With Shaw’s batting heroics, Northamptonshire piled up a gigantic 415-8 in 50 overs in 1st innings. Other than Shaw, Ricardo Vasconcelos (47) and Sam Whiteman (54) also added crucial runs on the scoreboard.
Later, they bowled out Somerset for 328 in 2nd innings. For Somerset, Andrew Umeed (77) and Sean Dickson (52) hit half-centuries while Lewis Goldsworthy (47) and Curtis Campher (49) scored decent knocks. However, it wasn’t enough to secure a victory in the match.
