New Zealand will take on England in the second of the three-match T20I series. This article provides details about England's Playing 11 vs New Zealand for the second match of the series.
England Playing XI vs New Zealand- 2nd T20I, England Tour of New Zealand 2025:
Openers: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler (wk)
England would want to put on a strong performance in the second of the three T20Is against New Zealand, as compared to how they batted in the opening game.
It appeared that the English batters were trying to hit every ball out of the ground and create pressure on the bowlers, but ended up losing their wickets in an attempt to accomplish their plan.
The Harry Brook-led side would want their batters to play with a bit more responsibility and respect the conditions before going for their shots.
The onus will be on the opening pair of former white ball captain Jos Buttler and Philip Salt to provide a solid base for the incoming batters.
In addition to that, both Buttler and Salt would also like to make a significant contribution to the team's score individually to gain confidence for the third and final T20I of the series.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook (c), Tom Banton, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran
The opening duo will be followed by a middle order that has a good blend of youth and experience, with a couple of batters who are rich in experience at the international level, while a couple are looking to make their mark.
The team management would want captain Harry Brook to lead from the front and convert the start that he gets into a big score while playing in his usual aggressive manner.
Amidst all the disappointment in the batting department, the visitors would be happy with the performance of Sam Curran, who fell one short of a half century walking in to bat at number six.
The captain would want the all-rounder to keep up the good work and have a good outing with the bat in the next match, and to carry that momentum in England's bowling innings.
Bowlers: Liam Dawson, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Luke Wood
As far as the team's bowling lineup is concerned, it is expected to consist of three fast bowlers and a couple of spin bowling options, other than a spin bowling all-rounder
The three fast bowlers would be Brydon Carse, Luke Wood, and Sam Curran, all of whom will be entrusted to pick wickets in all three phases of New Zealand's batting innings and not let the opposition score freely.
The spin bowling department will be taken care of by Adil Rashid, who has a good amount of experience when it comes to white ball cricket, and Liam Dawson
Jacob Bethell will fulfill the role of the sixth bowling option, being the spin bowling all-rounder who bats in the top five and can chip in with a couple of overs if a bowler has an off day.
