Former India pacer Zaheer Khan has predicted the four semifinalists of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The group stage of the tournament is done and dusted and the Super 8s games are now all set to begin.

At the start of the competition, a total of 20 teams were fighting it out in the group stage. The teams were divided into four groups of five teams each. Of the 20 teams, only eight teams have managed to progress ahead of the group stage. The eight teams are - India, USA, Australia, England, West Indies, Afghanistan, South Africa and Bangladesh.

The eight teams have been further divided into two groups. India, Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are in the first group while co-hosts West Indies, South Africa, USA, and defending champions England are in the second group. In the Super 8s, each team will play once against the other three teams in the group. In the end, the top two teams will qualify for the semifinals.

Super 8s group:

Group 1 Group 2
India USA
Australia England
Afghanistan West Indies
Bangladesh South Africa

Zaheer Khan predicts the semifinalists:

Before the first Super 8s game of the ongoing tournament, Zaheer Khan has picked India, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies as the four semifinalists while snubbing reigning champions England. When asked about the reason behind leaving out England, the former India pace spearhead explained that West Indies will have the advantage of playing in home conditions and are in good form as well.

He further said that South Africa look very strong on paper and their batting lineup can blow away any opposition. Zaheer Khan then called Australia the most consistent team in the competition so far before backing India's batters to bounce back in good batting conditions.

Meanwhile, the Super 8s stage of the T20 World Cup will get underway on Wednesday (June 19) with the game between the USA and South Africa in Antigua. India, on the other hand, will begin their campaign in Super 8s on Thursday (June 20) by taking on Afghanistan in Barbados.
