England cricket team have announced the squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against India. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match series in January and February next year.
Ben Stokes will be captaining the strong 16-member squad. ECB has added three uncapped players to the squad as well. Fast bowler Gut Atkinson is one among them and was selected based on his performances in the county championship last year, where he picked 20 wickets.
Apart from him, ECB has included off-spinners Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir in the team as well. Both of them were part of the England Lions squad that trained in the United Arab Emirates last month. The ECB organized a camp for the players to prepare for the India series.
ECB also recalled Rehan Ahmed into the team. Apart from this, Ollie Pope and Jack Leach will also be making a comeback after suffering injuries in Ashes. Ben Foakes also has been added to the team after he was sidelined from the team due to the presence of Jonny Bairstow.
The rest of the squad has pretty familiar names in it. Joe Root, Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Ollie Pope, and Ben Stokes will be the specialist batters. The vetera pace bowler James Anderson will be leading the bowling attack, which has the likes of Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson, and others.
