The second cycle of the World Test Championship is about to kick-start, and it is two behemoths of world cricket, India and England, who will be up against each other in what promises to be an exciting series. The first Test of the series is to be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from Wednesday.
But just like with any other Test match in England, fans are worried and intrigued about the weather conditions on offer. So what is the news? Will the rain gods show mercy on those in the stadium – a full-capacity crowd is expected – and those watching at home?
The news from Nottingham for Day 1 is encouraging: Though clouds will hover over The Bridge for the entire day, rain is expected to stay away for the most part of it and have little influence on the day’s proceedings. The temperature will be around the late teens with just 4% Precipitation while the wind will keep blowing aggressively – helping the seamers attain the famous swing.

A look at the wicket three days out from the 1st Test at Trent Bridge.

India vs England 1st Test team news:
With this kind of weather and the pitch – a green track was showed in several images emerging from Trent Bridge – the captain who wins the toss could take a punt on bowling first. This would produce a dilemma for Virat Kohli and co.
The Indian team is expected to stick to the same bowling combination as that of the WTC final – Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Ishant Sharma, 10 Mohammed Shami, 11 Jasprit Bumrah.
But, with the look of the pitch, picking a fourth seamer in Mohammed Siraj would be considered a good ploy. That would, however, weaken the batting. In that case Shardul Thakur, who has shown his batting prowess time and again, not least with his valiant fifty in Gabba, will also come into contention for this third India Test cap.
