India have won the toss against England in the 3rd Test at Headingley and elected to bat first. Team India are 1-0 up in the series after winning the second Test of the series by 151 runs at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The first Test of the series was played at Nottingham which ended in a draw.

Tempers flared up the Lord’s Cricket Ground when both the teams locked horns in the last match as a lot of verbal volleys were thrown at each other by the Indian and England players. However, the visitors got the better of the hosts, not only in terms of sledging but in terms of performance and embarked on a historical fifth-day win at the Home of Cricket.

As far as both the teams are concerned, the England National Cricket Team is dealing with a lot of injury blows which have weakened their side on paper. Mark Wood was ruled out of the third Test with key English pacers like Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad missing the series due to injuries. Dom Sibley’s stint in this Test might come to an end as Dawid Malan’s inclusion in the first XI is most likely to take place.

Craig Overton has made his place in the England first eleven. As far as the India National Cricket Team is concerned, captain Virat Kohli has already hinted that there might not be a possible change in the Indian first eleven which will mean that Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin might once again warm the bench.

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

England (Playing XI): Rory Burns, Haseeb Hameed, Dawid Malan, Joe Root(c), Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler(w), Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Craig Overton, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson.

Team India Will Aspire To Take An Unassisiable Lead In The Series

If the Indian Cricket Team manages to win the 3rd Test match, their position in the five-match series will become a lot more comfortable. The verbal battle between the two sides seems to come to no end but there have been indications from the English camp that they will not let the visitors take the advantage of such duals.

However, the Virat Kohli-led side hasn’t bogged down in such situations even while playing at home or away from home. This might once again fold out to be one of the most entertaining test fixtures in Indian cricket history.
