England seamer Ollie Robinson used the wobble seam delivery in the Headingly Test to take a huge advantage against the Indian batting lineup who struggled a lot. James Anderson is one of the best exponents of the wobble seam delivery and he has mastered the art so far in his career.

Ollie Robinson picked up his second fifer in his test career in the second innings of the Headingly Test and made sure India could not come back in the Test. He also accounted for the fall of the big wickets including the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and he deserved the man of the match award too.

“I Spoke To Him and Just Tried To Practice” – Ollie Robinson

Ollie Robinson in the post-match conference revealed that James Anderson helped him out to use the wobble seam delivery to the fullest potential. Robinson reckoned that he has been holding the delivery slightly differently and Anderson’s advice had worked out. He added that he was privileged to have learned from one of the greats of the game, James Anderson.

“I noticed Jimmy holding his wobble grip slightly differently. I was holding it from the other side so I spoke to him and just tried to practice it in the nets.

“It went quite nicely, so I tried it in the game and it worked quite well. It’s something I need to practice a bit more. This learning opportunity is invaluable for me at this stage in my career and luckily it came off today,” Robinson in the post-match conference.

Robinson Hopes To Continue The New Ball Partnership Alongside Anderson

Ollie Robinson mentioned that he had delighted to be sharing the new ball with James Anderson who is one of the best in the business and hoped to continue in the upcoming games as well. Both the bowlers played a key role in breaking the Indian resistance on day four and bowled some excellent lines and lengths at the start of the day.

“Obviously, it’s great to open the bowling with Jimmy and build pressure on both ends. I enjoyed it and hopefully, I can continue,” he added.
