Former Australian spinner Steve O’Keefe has made a bold prediction ahead of the upcoming Ashes 2025-26, claiming that the Ben Stokes-led England Cricket Team will finally break their long wait for a Test series win Down Under.
O’Keefe believes that England have the firepower and balance to beat the Australia cricket team on their own soil. He predicted that England would win the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 series with a margin of 3-2.
Steve O’Keefe makes bold Ashes 2025-26 prediction
The former Australian spinner feels that England’s current pace attack is their biggest strength. With Jofra Archer returning to full fitness, along with Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, and Josh Tongue, O’Keefe believes that the visitors have the depth and speed to trouble even the most settled Australian batters in the upcoming five-match Test series.

Steve O'Keefe was quoted as saying by Fox Cricket, “Don’t miss the mail here, I’m calling it—England (to win) 3-2. I’m saying that the Aussies are going to get dusted on their home track. They’ve got some great quicks in Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, and Josh Tongue, just to name a few.”
Steve O’Keefe backs England to recreate 2010 Ashes magic after 15 years
Even O’Keefe said that the current England team reminds him of England’s historic 2010 Ashes-winning squad that outplayed Australia 15 years ago. He believes that the timing feels right again for England to pull off something special, as they have a well-balanced squad and form.
He added, “I just think that they are ready; they’ve got the right attack this time. They used to bring over some players, and you just never had that feeling that they were ever close or good enough. They were the superior team when they beat us twice before in the past.
In 2010, they had the better team. This time, you could argue and say that they don’t, but I’m just saying it’s the right team in the right form to come over. I just think that the timing is right. It’s been 15 years since 2010.”
Steve O’Keefe warns Australia of England’s fiery pace attack and fearless batting
The former spinner also expects the pitches in Australia to be flatter than usual, which could benefit England’s aggressive batting unit. With Joe Root in sublime form, O’Keefe said that the likes of Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, and Zak Crawley are going to look to wreak havoc against this Australian attack in the upcoming Test series.
He feels the Australian attack might struggle under pressure from England’s relentless pace battery and fearless batting approach. Notably, the Ashes series between England and Australia is all set to get underway on November 21.
He signed off by saying, “I think that’s what’s going to put pressure on the Aussies, and ultimately, I think they’ll fail under that pressure. What they’ve got is repeated fast-bowling options; there’s no let-off, and they are going to challenge this Australian team.”
Notably, Australia will begin the Ashes 2025-26 series without their regular captain, Pat Cummins, as the star pacer was ruled out due to injury and is currently recovering under medical supervision. He is also doubtful for the second Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, starting on December 4.
