England have named their women’s T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Uncapped players Mahika Gaur and Bess Heath have been named in both squads while experienced batter Tammy Beaumont has been snubbed from the T20I squad.

England will be playing a three-match T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka from August 31 to September 14. England playing at home will certainly have an upper hand against Sri Lanka. Heather Knight will lead both the teams announced.

Young pacer Mahika has been added to the squad on the back of her scintillating performances in the Women’s Hundred. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Heath scored 249 runs at 41.00 in this year’s campaign in domestic cricket. He also has impressed in the Women’s Hundred for the Northern Superchargers.

Both the rookie cricketers have been part of England A setup in recent times with practice games against Australia A ahead of the white-ball leg of this year’s Women’s Ashes.

“We have named a squad with a good blend of youth and experience and see this as an important series to test the depth of playing pool. We have some exciting, new young players coming in who we are looking forward to working with” Jon Lewis, England’s head coach, said.

“Mahika [Gaur] is a very exciting talent. Left-arm swing bowlers of over six-foot tall are unique in women’s cricket. Mahika has shown consistently this summer that she is a threat with the new ball and we are excited to see how she performs at international level” he said on the young pacer Mahika Gaur.

“Bess [Heath] is an all-action cricketer who impacts games and is a great fit for us and how we want to play. She impressed in the A team games against Australia earlier in the summer and she also provides cover for Amy Jones with the gloves” he said on Bess.
