Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria boldly said that India‘s B team, or the second-string outfit which is currently in Sri Lanka, can beat a full-strength Pakistan side.

In absence of several major players, the BCCI sent a second-string group of players to Sri Lanka, where they have already defeated the hosts in the first two ODIs – dominantly in the first match, and keeping their nerves calm in a thriller in the second ODI. Pakistan, on the other hand, recently were white-washed 3-0 against a second-string England team in ODIs.

Danish Kaneria also lauded the role of Rahul Dravid, the Sri Lanka tour coach, for the strength in depth in Indian cricket built on his work at different levels.

“The way this Indian team is performing, the way Rahul Dravid has worked with the Indian team he deserves all the praise. The way he has motivated Kuldeep Yadav, even this India B team can certainly beat Pakistan,” Danish Kaneria said in his YouTube video.

He also pointed out that while India are not playing any international series before the T20 World Cup, they will have an advantage of playing the IPL in the UAE conditions over other teams.

The upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka would be the only T20 series India will play before the World Cup. West Indies on the other hand are in the middle of 15 T20Is at home; their players will then play in the CPL and the IPL.

“India are not playing any limited over cricket before the T20 World Cup but playing IPL will keep them in good stead. I think it will be India vs West Indies in the final,” the former spinner concluded.
