Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen international cricket has ever seen and holds many records, including the most runs in Tests and ODIs as well as the most centuries. Many world-class bowlers found it difficult to match Tendulkar’s brilliant strokeplay. Former Australia fast bowler Damien Fleming made an interesting statement about bowling against Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar had a good record against Australia in international cricket, scoring 3077 runs in 71 ODIs and 3630 from 39 Tests. The right-handed batter smashed 20 centuries against the five-time World Champions. The Mumbai cricketer dominated the greatest Australian bowlers like Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, and Shane Warne during his illustrious 23-year career.

Speaking on the documentary ‘Bradman and Tendulkar – The story of two of cricket’s giants’ Damien Fleming quipped that even Siri doesn’t know where to bowl to Sachin Tendulkar after he was interrupted by Siri – the AI interface – on his watch.

“He was quick to get into position but he was often late to play his shots so it was really hard to fool him. Siri, where do you bowl to Tendulkar? Didn’t answer, did he? Even Siri doesn’t know where to bowl to Tendulkar,” Damien Fleming said.

It Was Just Two Legends Of The Game Going At Each Other – Damien Fleming

Fleming recalled the 1998 series between India and Australia, where Tendulkar had the upper hand over spin bowling legend Shane Warne, calling it loud and two legends of the game going at each other.

“I remember on that 1998 tour… we were Tendulkar-centric at that stage. It was nuts. If you were trying to move a fielder, unless they actually looked at you, they could not hear you. When Warne would get the ball, it wasn’t quite as loud as Tendulkar but it was loud. It was just two legends of the game going at each other,” said Fleming.

Sachin slammed 143 against an attack that included Shane Warne, Damien Fleming, and Michael Kasprowicz at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, where temperatures reached 41 degrees Celsius. Despite the fact that the century came in a losing cause against Australia in Sharjah, it became known as the ‘Desert Storm’ after play was stopped for 25 minutes.
