Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta picked Ishan Kishan over the likes of Jos Buttler as he blindly ranked several players based on their performance in IPL 2026.
The IPL 2026 has come to an end, and several players, especially batters, have had an outstanding season in this edition. One of them is undoubtedly SRH's stand-in skipper Ishan Kishan, who led his team to some commanding positions with the bat.
After the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the Eliminator game to the Rajasthan Royals, Ishan Kishan ended his season with 600+ runs in the season. Having amassed so many runs, Kishan is undoubtedly one of the most significant performers of this edition of the competition.
Deep Dasgupta lands in a major fix after handing Ishan Kishan the no. 1 spot on batting rankings
Deep Dasgupta was seen in a recent interview alongside ESPNcricinfo, where he was given a challenge to blindly rank among eight batters named by the presenter. Though not intentionally, Dasgupta landed in a major fix with his choices.
Dasgupta was too eager to fill in all of his spots at the top of the table, and hence he picked three Indian batters for his top three spots. Ishan Kishan was at the top of his three players' list.
However, he landed in a massive fix when he just had the eighth place vacant in the list, and Jos Buttler was named as the final player of the set. He later wanted to induce a change in the form of Naman Dhir, who he felt did not actually deserve the fourth spot.

Deep Dasgupta ranks young Angkrish Raghuvanshi among top 3 batters in IPL 2026
Deep Dasgupta made some bold calls, as he considered that Angkrish Raghuvanshi played a fine hand for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and his run-scoring spree remained a great feat. Angkrish was a part of KKR's success throughout this season.
Raghuvanshi has been playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2024, and he has amassed 722 runs over the past two seasons. While he scored 300 runs in the 2025 season, he looked in even better touch as he amassed 422 runs in this season before being ruled out with a shoulder injury.
Raghuvanshi was placed third in the blind rankings by Deep Dasgupta after Devdutt Padikkal, who was placed second. Padikkal has played several crucial knocks for RCB in this season; however, his contributions have often not taken the shape of massive milestones.
Ishan Kishan had the best season of his IPL career
Ishan Kishan might have been a special player in the IPL over many seasons; however, this season would remain his most memorable season with the bat. He was picked for the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a massive cost of INR 11 crore but had a mixed season in 2025.
He returned with further excellence and scored 602 runs by the end of the season. He also scored six half-centuries in this season of the IPL while scoring runs with a whopping strike rate of 182.42 this season.
Kishan had also led Jharkhand to a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in 2025 and then made a comeback to the Indian side, leading them to a massive win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where he emerged as their second-highest scorer.
