England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan expects big things from The Hundred, organized by the England Cricket Board (ECB). The Hundred is a 100-ball tournament, set to begin from the 21st of July for the Women’s division, while the men’s competition would kickstart from the 22nd. Eoin Morgan wants the event to discover talents like IPL has done.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is arguably the most entertaining T20 competition in the world. The cash-rich or the lucrative event has produced some of the best T20 players, not only for India but also for the rest of the countries. It paved the way for the other countries to form their own T20 tournament and develop players for their national teams.

Eoin Morgan, captain of the London Spirit, anticipates The Hundred to create a platform that could make players ready to face the challenges of international cricket. The Irishman expects the tournament to be as successful as the IPL, naming Rishabh Pant as one of those having transformed into a prominent international player through it.

“I think the Hundred could create a platform that could springboard somebody right into international cricket. We could sit here all day and talk about the names that the IPL has produced – say three-four years ago, Rishabh Pant was a young kid coming through… it’s very exciting to watch. Looking at him now, he’s a prominent international star,” Morgan in an interview with Easterneye.biz.

Eoin Morgan underlined that the likes of IPL, BBL, and CPL create outstanding players out of nowhere. The 34-year old conceded it designs an environment for players to thrive under pressure and makes them ready to handle the pressure after coming into the international arena.

We’ve seen it at the IPL, in the Big Bash and in the CPL [Caribbean Premier League]. It makes superstars out of people as those platforms test them with pressure and how they deal with it and prepare them really well for international cricket,” he added.
