While a part of Pakistan is supporting their government's decision to boycott the India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 group stage match, former cricketer Aakash Chopra explained the matter in his own way, which might have been enough to shut many mouths.

On Sunday, the Government of Pakistan informed that they are against the India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match, which is scheduled to be played on February 15 in Colombo. The government stated that they are going to play the tournament, but not against India.

Government of Pakistan made its choice clear

"The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026. However, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India," the Government of Pakistan wrote this on their 'X' post.

As soon as the news broke out, it flooded social media platforms. A large part of Pakistani fans are supporting the boycott decision, claiming it is a brave decision. The former India opener Aakash Chopra offered them a reality check through a reply on the social media platform 'X.'.

Aakash Chopra gave them a reality check

Aakash Chopra said, "Classic case of ‘But I've seen you naked,’ IYKYK," in response to another comment by the profile named Awais Khan. Khan claimed in his "X" comment, "You know who got the spine? India played with us in the Asia Cup while we boycotted now," only to get thrashed by Aakash Chopra.

It is important to note that the boycott has been called by the Government of Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to announce their decision in a formal way to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Today is February 2, and the T20 World Cup 2026 will start on February 7. As there is very little time left ahead of the tournament, PCB will have to make the ultimate call in a hurry.

Pakistan can fall into a deep well of troubles

As per the latest reports, PCB is yet to send a formal letter to the ICC, though the ICC has already warned that the boycott could attract a series of punishments that will ultimately harm Pakistani cricket.

The media reports further informed that the ICC not only questioned the Pakistan government’s decision but also urged the PCB to consider the “significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country,” as the boycott stance could simply drag the Pakistan cricket board into a whole episode filled with troubles.

From loss of revenue to effect on their reputation as a cricket-playing nation, it is possible if Pakistan does not change their standpoint. Even the ICC can sanction some strict actions over the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will definitely affect the nation's economy in a negative way.
