The glitz of Bollywood and the thrill of cricket met once again at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where Punjab Kings co-owner and actress Preity Zinta was spotted cheering for her team during their IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals on May 24.
Preity Zinta’s energetic presence lit up the stands as always, but the real buzz began after the match, where her team, Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC). After the match, a photo of Preity Zinta and Delhi Capitals’ stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis went viral online.

The image quickly went viral, with one enthusiastic fan calling the pair “visual perfection” and urging filmmakers to cast them in a movie together, ideally a sports drama or a royal romance. But it was Faf du Plessis who caught one and all’s attention as the Proteas superstar himself responded to the tweet with a playful nod, sparking even more excitement among fans.
The online banter between cricket and cinema lovers soared, with many suggesting movie plots, titles, and even potential co-stars.
Sharing an enchanting picture of the Bollywood actress and DC batter on X, a user wrote, “Someone please cast @faf1307 and @realpreityzinta in a movie already 😭🔥. He’s got the action-hero vibe. She’s aging like fine wine. Put them in a sports drama or a royal romance —don’t waste this visual perfection! 🎬👑 #FafDuPlessis #PreityZinta #AgelessIcons”
Replying to the post, Du Plessis said, “Make it happen 😂🎥🎬.”

Sameer Rizvi shines as DC crush PBKS' Top-2 hopes
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals ended their season on a high with a six-wicket win on Saturday, while Punjab Kings took a hit in their fight for a top-two finish in the IPL 2025 playoffs. PBKS posted 206/8 on the board; DC chased it down in style, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 58 off 25 balls by Sameer Rizvi — his first-ever half-century in the IPL—to win the game by six wickets in Jaipur.
Speaking on DC’s performance this season, Faf du Plessis said, “Finishing on a high is important. Fifth is a fair reflection of our season, but we need to be more consistent to be in the top four.”

'One of the great mysteries'
Delhi Capitals started strong this season with four early wins, but they lost momentum halfway through, and the South African star called it “one of the great mysteries. Combination of confidence, lack of form, and basics.”
He noted that in a close tournament like the IPL, even small errors in five to six overs can turn the game and cost matches. Du Plessis signed off by saying, “When you're playing well, small margins go with you. Every single time, there were five or six over windows in both batting and bowling where we let it slip.”
Notably, Du Plessis had a decent season, scoring 202 runs in nine matches for the Delhi Capitals. He was shown the door by the RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
