Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come up with the massive action on opening batter Fakhar Zaman. This comes after he reacted on social media and commented on Babar Azam getting dropped from the Test squad against England National Cricket Team.

Babar Azam getting dropped from the England National Cricket Team hasn't gone well with many former and current players of the team. They expressed their disappointment with the premier batter getting excluded from the team on social media, lashing out at the PCB.

One among them was white-ball star Fakhar Zaman. As soon as the reports related to Babar Azam getting dropped emerged, he was the first player to comment on that. The reports didn't go well with the left-hander as he fumed over the omission of the premier batter.

Fakhar Zaman criticizes PCB for dropping Babar Azam from team

Fakhar compared Babar Azam's lean patch with Virat Kohli. He pointed out that when India's batter was averaging 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively, in three years, the team didn't drop him but instead backed him during his tough time in all three formats.

Fakhar called Babar Azam the best batter Pakistan has ever produced and said that dropping the batter could send a negative message across the team. He also urged PCB to safeguard their key players. Taking to his Twitter account, he explained:

"It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn’t bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively."

Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a show-cause notice to Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar posting a message for Babar Azam and targeting PCB didn't go well with the governing body. As per the reports in Pakistan media, it is learned that the Cricket body has decided to take action against the opening batter.

Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a show-cause notice to Fakhar Zaman on a tweet regarding Babar Azam. The batter will now have seven days to 'explain his position' to the PCB. He will have to be answerable to the board by October 21.

Things are not well between PCB and Fakhar Zaman

For the last few months, things have not been going right between the Pakistan Cricket Board and Fakhar. The opening batter last month expressed his frustration to chairman Mohsin Naqvi over his treatment by a PCB director.

Zaman reportedly complained against Usman Wahla, PCB's director for international cricket operations. This was because the official of the board delayed the process of granting the NOC to him and the players for T20 leagues around the world.
