In Galle, Sri Lanka is battling against Pakistan in the second and final Test of the series. Pakistan is hoping for a series sweep after winning the first game with an emphatic four-wicket victory. However, the hosts made a remarkable recovery in the second Test, putting Pakistan on the defensive with a lead of more than 400 runs in the second innings.

Shaheen Afridi’s injury forced the Babar Azam-led team to make a couple of changes to the side for the second test. The other change was the inclusion of Fawad Alam who was dropped from the side for the first game.

The seasoned batter Azhar Ali was omitted for Fawad Alam. Fawad had a disappointing performance in the team’s previous Test series against Australia, scoring 0 (9), 13 (13), and 11 (11), respectively, in two Tests. He was kept in the Pakistan squad for the Sri Lanka series due to his steady performances over the previous year.

Only Fawad Alam Can Handle The Pressure Himself: Shahid Afridi

Talking about Alam, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said there is always pressure when playing international cricket.

“If Fawad Alam doesn’t want to take the pressure, he can come to me and play in MSL (Shahid Afridi’s T20 League) instead. It’s only the player himself who can handle the pressure. Even those who have performed in the past have pressure because they carry the expectations,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

“Even Virat Kohli, a top-class player, is out of form nowadays. When he was performing, people always had expectations. In both cases, he had the pressure, right? Fawad Alam has played in difficult situations, and in domestic cricket, he took on all kinds of oppositions on all kinds of pitches and played long innings,” added Afridi.
