New Zealand National Cricket Team and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Finn Allen named the best T20 batter in the world at the moment. Allen, who himself is a prolific run scorer in the shortest format of the game, named the India National keeper-batter Ishan Kishan as the best around the world.
Since making his return to the India cricket team last year, Ishan Kishan has been crossing one hurdle after another across formats. In both domestic and international cricket, Ishan is leaving his mark with his batting brilliance. Finn Allen mentions Ishan Kishan as the best T20 format batter around the world
After missing out for a couple of years, Ishan Kishan returned to the national camp ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup and played a massive role behind the team's triumph in the tournament.
The left-hander scored 569 runs at an average of over 40 and a strike rate of 178.37 in IPL 2026 and has an overall average of 37.16 at a strike rate of over 173 in T20Is this year.
Finn Allen explains why he picks Ishan Kishan over Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Finn Allen named a bunch of star batters who are doing well in the shortest format of the game. Allen named his teammate, Tim Seifert, and two Indian batters, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Among all of these batters, Allen ultimately pointed out Allen as the best among all in the T20 format.
"There are so many guys who are playing such good cricket at the moment. You've got guys like Tim Seifert and things like that who have been whacking it everywhere they've been going lately. Again, Ishan, Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma are always scoring runs and smacking it. So, I mean, it's pretty hard to just pick one. I think Kishan would be up there at the moment," Finn Allen said in the interview.
Finn Allen on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Alongside Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is another Indian batter who's never shy to take the headlines with his aggressive batting style. Allen also noted Sooryavanshi as an exceptional talent in modern-day cricket.
Allen further explained that the 15-year-old sensation is an incredible talent with a great batting swing and his unique style of playing the game; he has mesmerised the cricketing fraternity. The New Zealand international strongly believes that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will establish himself as the best T20 batter in the world.
"He's obviously incredibly talented. Yeah, it's pretty unbelievable to watch sometimes. His bat swing and the way he plays are obviously incredible, and I'm sure he's going to be one of the best at T20 cricket, if not the best. So, yeah, it's obviously one of those things, right? I'm glad I'm not a bowler. And yeah, it's pretty special watching him play sometimes," said Allen on Suryavanshi.
