That's where I want to see you! Proud of you - Yuvraj Singh

Abhishek Sharma's batting show in the dead rubber game against the Three Lions left the cricket world astonished. The left-handed displayed an attacking brand of cricket and played one of the best T20 innings of his career.

He was ultra-aggressive from the start as he smashed a 17-ball fifty - the second fastest for India after Yuvraj Singh - and then reached the triple-figure milestone off 37 balls - the second fastest for India in T20Is behind Rohit Sharma.

Abhishek Sharma made each and every celebrity sitting at the Wankhede Stadium stand and applauded him, and he finished with a score of 135 runs - the highest by an Indian batter in the history of T20I.

Yuvraj Singh, who is the mentor of Abhishek Sharma, was mighty impressed with the way the left-handed batter played and took to his official X handle to shower praise on the batter. He stated:

"Well played @IamAbhiSharma4! That's where I want to see you! Proud of you."

I think this is the first time Yuvraj has tweeted something without 'flying chappal' - Abhishek Sharma

Speaking on Star Sports after the match, Abhishek was shown the tweet from Yuvraj Singh and asked to share his thoughts on it. Reacting to this, Abhishek Sharma came up with a cheeky reply, saying:

"I think this is the first time Yuvraj has tweeted something without adding 'I will send a chappal.' Finally, he is proud of me. So I'm very happy."

Abhishek further revealed the words from the legendary all-rounder to back him when he had doubts in his mind regarding his future in cricket.

"Three years ago, when I started working with him, he always told me that, as a player, doubts are natural. But he always reassured me, saying, 'You will be there, and you will perform. You will win matches for India,'" said Abhishek.

He repeatedly told me, 'don’t think short-term - Abhishek Sharma

The left-handed batter further spoke about his training sessions with Yuvraj during the Covid times and revealed that the legendary all-rounder was preparing him for a long run.

"I remember during our training camp in COVID times, he repeatedly told me, 'don’t think short-term. I’m preparing you for the long run.' Now that things are coming together, I am really happy," said Abhishek

Also, the youngster was asked whether Yuvraj Singh would be pleased with his knock after winning the Player of the Match award in Mumbai. He responded by saying that his mentor wanted him to bat for 15-20 overs in every match, and his performance would probably have made Yuvraj happy.

“Probably he should be, I think, after this, but he always wanted me to, you know, bat till 15, 20 overs. And as I've been in this team as well, even Gauti Bhai wanted the same thing. So, I think today was my day, and I implemented it well," he said.
