Football legend Zlatan Ibrahimović denies Virat Kohli's existence

Legendary football player Zlatan Ibrahimović has denied the existence of star India batter Virat Kohli and stated that he doesn't know anyone by this name. In a video by IShowSpeed that has gone viral on social media, Ibrahimović clearly denied having seen the game of cricket, let alone knowing Virat Kohli.

The Swedish star retired from professional football last year at the age of 41. He represented Sweden at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 UEFA Euro Cups.

Football legend Zlatan Ibrahimović denies Virat Kohli's existence

In a video with the American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Zlatan Ibrahimović was asked whether he knows Virat Kohli or not. Ibrahimović clearly denied having known someone by that name.

IShowSpeed had asked Zlatan, "Do you know Virat Kohli?", to which the footballer cluelessly replied, "Do I know who?"

IShowSpeed tried multiple times of trying to remind Ibrahimovic about the Indian legend by even saying that he belongs to cricket. He even showed a picture of Kohli but Ibrahimović found him unknown.

"Not being disrespectful but I've never seen cricket in my life," Ibrahimovic replied politely later. He further asks IShowSpeed, "Is he a big player?"

"He is the GOAT, he is the GOAT! You got learn the different GOATs in different aspects, man! You got what I'm saying," IShowSpeed said.

Ibrahimović also asked IShowSpeed if he likes cricket as well, to which he replied, "Yes I do." Later, Ibrahimovic was also heard saying, "That's not on my radar, cricket."

Speed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., has been on a tour of Europe during the ongoing Euro 2024 tournament, and during his stop at Milan, Italy, he met the Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimović and got a chance to do an interview with him.

iShowSpeed is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and Virat Kohli and always mentions these two legends whenever possible. He never missed the chance to meet the two legends in their respective sports.

Has such an incident happened before?

This is not the first time when an athlete from another sport hasn't recognized a cricketer. A few years ago, lawn tennis legend Maria Sharapova failed to recognize Sachin Tendulkar and said, "I don't know who is Sachin Tendulkar." This created a sense of anger among lots of Indian fans.

Later, Tendulkar himself had to come out and stated that it was not disrespectful for an athlete to not know about another athlete from any other sport.

"When I was in England, I got messages telling me that (Maria) Sharapova did not know me. I believe that not every sportsperson has to know and follow about all other sports. If someone asks me about basketball, I will not be able to answer, but it does not mean that I am being disrespectful towards them. Maybe she does not follow cricket, so it was not disrespectful," Tendulkar had said.
