Former BCCI Administrator Amitabh Choudhary Passes Away Due To Heart Attack
Former BCCI administrator Amitabh Choudhary passed away early morning on Tuesday, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) officials confirmed.
He served as BCCI’s joint secretary after paving the path in JSCA for over a decade. Choudhary also stood in as the acting secretary during the Committee of Administrators’ regime in the BCCI.
Choudhary was responsible for making Ranchi the main headquarters of JSCA by shifting from Jamshedpur. Soon after, under his guidance, a stadium with 40,000 capacity was built and a stand was named after him.
Following his death, long-time colleague and former BCCI treasurer, Anirudh Chaudhry, offered his condolences to friends and family.
“Amitabh’s contribution to the game of cricket in Jharkhand was immense. He will be missed by JSCA and it will be difficult to fill the void left by him in Jharkhand. I offer my condolences to his family, friends, and well-wishers,” he told The Indian Express.
Just a couple of years ago, Choudhary was also appointed as the Chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. He has managed the Indian team before during a 2005-06 tour of Zimbabwe.
Notably, Choudhary served for the Indian Police Service (IPL) much before shifting his focus to cricket. He has attempted to delve into politics by contesting Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Jharkhand but failed to make a mark.
