Former professional cricketer Aaron Summers, who has also played in the Big Bash League, has been jailed for possessing sexually explicit images of children. The cricketer had been involved in this for several months before he was caught.
For this crime, Summers has been sentenced to four years of imprisonment and he cannot come out on parole for the first two years of the period. Messaging the small children through Instagram and Snapchat, Aaron Summers had stored about eighty pictures of small children and this was allegedly to blackmail them if they tried to report the nude photos and videos that he sent to them.

“You said your reason for recording this material was to ensure you had blackmail material of the child if they ever threatened to share the naked images or videos which you had sent to them,” Justice John Burns said as quoted by abc.net.au
The crime that Aaron Summers committed is generally done by people with no criminal record: Prosecutor Hannah White
Commonwealth Prosecutor Hannah White stated that such crimes are generally made by people who are so-called ‘good characters’ and people with no criminal record. So it might be hard for the police at first to catch hold of the person committing the crime.
“These types of offences are typically committed by persons like the offender who have no prior criminal history and good character,” said Hannah White.
Matthew Hubber, the lawyer of Aaron Summers, has requested to let Summers live with his parents in Western Australia. It is a shame that a cricketer with such a promising career decided to do such a heinous crime.
Been in jail since May, Summers will remain in prison for the next two years at least. This is yet another scandal that has rocked Australian cricket after the recent texting scandal involving former Test captain Tim Paine.
