Former Pakistan Player Accuses Ramiz Raja For Accepting Indian Supremacy In The ICC
Former Pakistan pacer Sarfraz Nawaz has accused fellow countryman Ramiz Raja of accepting the ‘Indian supremacy’ in the matters of the ICC. Ramiz was recently given the green light by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to become the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The elections haven’t been held yet but Ramiz is all but guaranteed to occupy the post. Sarfraz, who was a potent bowler during his era, stated that the to-be PCB chairman has ‘shamelessly’ accepted the position of the Indian apex board in the ICC.
“If the news about your [Imran’s] approval for appointment of Ramiz Raja as next chairman PCB is true, who blatantly and shamelessly advised Pakistan to become shameless by accepting the Indian supremacy and domination in the ICC and so much so that he [Ramiz] said that we should leave aside Pakistan in surrendering before the Indian hegemonist plan to rule the cricketing world through monopoly in the ICC,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying.
Sarfraz pointed out a couple of candidates who could have been appointed as the chairman of PCB. He believes Zaheer Abbas and Majid Khan have had better relationships with ICC members and so their candidature may have seemed much stronger.
“Highly respectable legend Majid Khan who in the past had excellent relations with all ICC board members, or Zaheer Abbas [ex-ICC president] may be appointed the next chairman of the PCB instead of Ramiz since his appointment will be against the national sentiments and also severely hurting the patriotic feelings of the entire nation,” he added.
Ramiz Raja fully prepared to lead the way for Pakistan Cricket
After a few meetings with the PM Imran Khan, Ramiz was pretty guaranteed of taking up the chairman role in the PCB. The official elections will take place on September 13 but it looks like a mere formality at this point. Speaking on his likely appointment, Ramiz said:
“Life has changed a bit since my last tweet. From bowling bouncers to facing bouncers but with your support and blessings I am confident to win the day inshallah,” he wrote on Twitter.
Ramiz will replace Ehsan Mani, whose 3-year tenure at the helm came to an end on August 25.
