According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking to hire a foreign head coach to replace former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

In PCB’s vision, Flower was the best candidate on their cards, but the 53-year-old has clearly expressed his wish to not work with any international team and continue his stint with different franchise teams across the globe.

At present, Flower is associated with multiple teams as a coach, he is the head coach of Multan Sultans (PSL), St Lucia Kings (CPL), Trent Rockets (The Hundred) and assistant coach of Punjab Kings (IPL).

Flower’s denial to take the position of the head coach will be a difficult task for PCB to recruit a foreign coach that also when the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is not even two months away. If we believe some sources, then Misbah’s removal is unlikely to take place at least before the T20 World Cup this year.

Misbah was appointed as the head coach and chief selector in September 2019, with strong backing from Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan. Later in October 2020, he stepped down from the selector’s role and purely is focused on coaching the team.
