England pacer Mark Wood, in a recent talk show, has revealed that if he were given the charge of England's post-match penalties, he would have penalized skipper Ben Stokes, as he shared a shocking incident from the last time the two played alongside each other for England.
England pacer Mark Wood recently appeared on the Stick to Cricket podcast alongside host Michael Vaughan, the former English captain. In the engaging chat show, he made some quirky remarks that caught the attention of the host as well as the fans on social media platforms.
Mark Wood reveals Ben Stokes' 'rude side' in latest chat with Michael Vaughan
In the show, the former English skipper went on to ask Wood a situational question. He said, consider, Wood is being appointed as the man to give post-match penalties to England players for their field conduct, then who would that player be?
To this, Mark Wood answered almost instantaneously without much hesitation and named the English skipper Ben Stokes as the player he would penalize.
"The last time I played with Stokesy, he was bowling, and it wasn't quite gone the way he wanted with. I went up to him and said look, I can suggest something,'" said Wood in a light-hearted tone. To this, Ben Stokes replied, "F**k off," as revealed by the England pacer Wood, who was filled with laughter on recalling the incident.

Wood envies Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood
Just ahead of a much highly anticipated Ashes in 2025-26, which would mark the English side visiting Australia for the 5-match contest, pacer Wood has revealed that he envies one of the Australian bowlers.
The Australian pace trio is currently one of the most brutal and lethal attacks in the world. Led by skipper Pat Cummins, it has two other legends, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.
On being asked on who would be Aussie, Mark Wood would love to have dinner with, he first jokingly named Steve Irwin, famously known as the 'Crocodile Hunter' in the world, who died of a stingray attack in 2006.
However, on a serious note, Wood remarked it would be one of the Aussie bowlers, be it Cummins or Hazlewood. He revealed, "I have a bowling action envy on Josh Hazlewood. Everytime I see him, I feel how can the action look so good."
Mark Wood missed the recent Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy due to injury
England had two of their most anticipated contests of this WTC cycle in the India vs England series, which concluded earlier this month, and the upcoming Ashes, which will be played later this year.
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy marked the rise of some thrilling and exciting Test cricket, which was long missed, and it ended in a well-deserved draw between the two sides.
However, one of the major misses for England was the absence of their key players. Though Jofra Archer made a Test comeback after a four-year gap, Stokes rallied through the Indian batting order, and Gus Atkinson too returned in the final Test, but Mark Wood could not make his comeback from injury.
However, it seems he is fit now and would be eyeing some games before the much-anticipated and exciting Ashes action later in the year.
