Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) gave a phenomenal show last season despite their other failed attempt to reach the final. Led by Faf du Plessis, RCB lost the first 7 games out of 8. However, they made stunning efforts later to reach the playoffs with a winning streak.
By winning the final game against Chennai Super Kings in the group stage, RCB finished in the 4th spot in the points table with 14 points. Out of 14 games, they won 7 games and lost 7 matches. However, they lost the first game in the playoffs Eliminator match to Rajasthan Royals and their rocking journey ended in the season.
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were the best performers for the side in IPL 2024. Kohli shattered 741 runs in 15 games while Plessis added 438 runs in 15 games. Among bowlers, new teammates Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj were the leading wicket-takers with 15 wickets each.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, RCB needs to retain the best players in their squad. Since IPL 2025 is a mega auction, RCB can only retain a handful of members in their squad. Below we glance at 3 RCB players who can retire from T20 cricket if not retained by RCB.

Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is the first player on this list. The right-handed batsman slammed 741 runs in 15 games at an average of 61.75. The batting legend won the orange cap by finishing as the highest run-getter in the season.
He also played the dominant role in leading the side to playoffs. Notably, Kohli has retired from T20Is and might also retire from the T20s ahead of next season.
Since Kohli has to focus on larger formats, it might be a good idea to leave the IPL as well. Kohli is known for surprising decisions in the past.

Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is another player on this list. He is the skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024 and one of the best members of the side.
He played as an opener for RCB and also helped the team to reach the playoffs. If RCB does not retain him for any reason, he might retire from T20Is as he does not play for the South Africa national team too.
Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma is another player on this list. He has been part of the RCB team for the last few years. He is already 36 years old and also did not give an outstanding show last season.
Due to the mega auction, if RCB does not pick him, he will not be able to get more teams due to his age. Hence, he might pull the curtains down on his career.
