Kolkata Knight Riders made a fabulous effort in IPL 2024 and won the trophy. Now, KKR is set to undergo an IPL 2025 auction where they will have to drop many players from their squad. Also, they need to retain a few crucial members.
Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 and did a wonderful job with Gautam Gambhir to lead the side to the title. KKR was the most dominating side in the season with their powerful batting and bowling attack.
In IPL 2025, KKR will have to make some tough choices. Notably, the Kolkata franchise has retained many members over the last 7-8 seasons by bringing them back during the auction. They will retain their best members ahead of the IPL 2025 auction and below we look at 3 such players.

3. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders and he did a wonderful job in IPL 2024 to lead the side to the title. The right-handed batsman slammed 345 runs in 14 games with 2 half-centuries and a 39+ average.
KKR picked him in the IPL 2022 auction and made him the skipper. He has delivered his responsibilities with great effort and formed KKR into a powerful side. Hence, the management needs to retain him at any cost, and even mentor Gautam Gambhir will voice for the same.
2. Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc was the most crucial pacer who became a part of KKR in IPL 2024. With his marvelous pace attack, Mitchell Starc took important wickets for the side. Especially towards the end of the tournament, he was a deadly member of the pace attack.
The Aussie stalwart became the costliest member during the IPL 2024 auction as KKR shelled out Rs. 24.50 crore for him. Now, they will not like to part ways with him for the next season and retain him ahead of the auction.
1. Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy has been a consistent spinner for Kolkata Knight Riders over the years. The right-arm spinner clinched 21 wickets in the IPL 2024 season at an average of 19.41 and an economy of 8+. He was the leading wicket-taker for the side and led the team to victory in many games with his stunning spin attack.
Spinners are crucial members for any side and Chakravarthy has proved again and again that he is one of the best in IPL. Hence, KKR might retain him in their squad for IPL 2025.
