Ahead of the much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started renovation works at all three venues including the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to upgrade the facilities.

The PCB is gearing up to host an ICC event for the first time since the 1996 World Cup. The last they hosted a multi-nation event was last year when the Asia Cup took place in Pakistan.

However, they could not conduct all the games in Pakistan as India refused to cross the border and played all of their games in Sri Lanka.

With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, the PCB is taking all possible measures to upgrade the facilities. The Champions Trophy games are scheduled to be played in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi next year.

Construction begins at Gaddafi Stadium ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

As per reports in Pakistani media, the construction work has started at the Gaddafi Stadium. A recent report stated that the stadium's main secretariat building has been demolished as part of extensive renovations to meet the ICC's requirements for hosting the Champions Trophy.

The Dawn reported that the recently renovated office of the PCB Chairman along with 12 other executive rooms would be demolished as well.

According to Pakistani journalist Umar Farooq Kalson, the new project to enhance the Gaddafi Stadium will include the construction of a new pavilion with dressing rooms, hospitality boxes, and premium seating. The PCB will also be ensuring the installation of a LEG video screen in the stadium.

A new five-story office building will be constructed as well. He also stated that the project has already started and will be complete in five months.

"Project to enhance Gaddafi Stadium Lahore includes constructing a new pavilion building with players' dressing rooms, hospitality boxes, and premium seating. Additionally, a new LED video screen with a scoreboard will be installed, and a new office building (five floors) will be constructed. The project has already started and is set to be completed in five months," Kalson wrote on X.

The PCB is definitely in a race against time to complete the renovation work at all three venues. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 10.

As per reports, the ICC has already shared the draft schedule with all eight participating teams. Before the Champions Trophy, Pakistan will also be hosting New Zealand and South Africa for a tri-series.
