Galle Marvels and Colombo Strikers go head to head in LPL 2024 match 5 on Wednesday from 7.30 pm IST. This is the second game each for the two teams. This is also the final game to be played in Pallekele.

The rest of the games in LPL 2024 will be played in Dambulla and Colombo. Dambulla will host nine games with Colombo hosting the final leg of the tournament which has 10 games including the knockouts. The final will be played on July 21 in Colombo.

There are five teams in LPL 2024 namely, B-Love Kandy, Dambulla Sixers, Jaffna Kings, Galle Marvels, and Colombo Strikers. All the teams will play each other twice in this tournament. Thus all teams will play a total of 8 matches. The top four teams will make it to the playoffs followed by the top two teams in the final.

The five-team tournament is still in its very nascent stage and this tournament needs a lot of reach still. The playing conditions need to be better including better pitches, facilities, infrastructures, and results to back them up.

The tournament has already been hit by a massive controversy with the Dambulla franchise owner arrested with match-fixing charges. The franchise name was changed to Dambulla Strikers by new owners from Sequoia Consultants.

Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Kusal Mendis are some of the popular names from Sri Lanka participating in this tournament. The onus is on them to raise the standards of this tournament by gifting their fans a good season of entertaining cricket.

The national team has not won too many big tournaments of late and hence the fans are desperate to see some good cricket in the country. The pitches and the climate will be a major concern as well.
