Gautam Gambhir asks Joe Root to FU*K OFF after Washington Sundar castles him
Indian coach Gautam Gambhir has not had the best of starts to his days as the national coach, since he received widespread criticism for the Indian team's unpromising performance in red-ball cricket under him.
India's T20 World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid finally stepped down from his position, as Gautam Gambhir, who had then just won the IPL trophy as the mentor of KKR, was called in to replace the former veteran.
However, under Gambhir's reign, India lost back-to-back test series, one at home after a huge span of time. They had also lost an ODI series after many years; all this compiled together also led to claims of sacking Gambhir from the role of Indian coach.
However, since then, the new coach has been phenomenal, as he helped India to win the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy even in the absence of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Now his tactics in England have also been proven effective, adding to his glory.
Gautam Gambhir was redeemed by the generational spell from Sundar
Gautam Gambhir was redeemed as the best tactician after his unorthodox team selection had borne fruit for the Indian team. Despite several calls for Kuldeep Yadav to be picked, Gambhir decided to stand firm with the decision of having Washington Sundar on his side.
Sundar delivered when it mattered the most; he has been effective with the bat, thus strengthening the Indian lower order. However, this time in the second innings at Lord's, he has dismissed the top English batters Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jamie Smith.

Washington Sundar goes past Anil Kumble
This might be Washington Sundar's debut at Lord's, but the performance from the young man and his stats speak otherwise. He has surpassed cricket legends to feature at the top.
With a spell that comprised 12.1 overs, he picked 4 wickets, giving away just 22 runs, with an economy of 1.8. This set a record for Washington as the lowest recorded economy with a four-for by a visiting spinner at Lord's since 2001.
This spell registered the best bowling spell by an Indian spinner at Lord's ever since the beginning of this century, as he surpassed Anil Kumble's previous best of 3/83.
Indian batters struggle in the second innings at Lord's
The Indian bowlers might have done a fairly good job, limiting the English batters to a low target. However, to win this match and take the lead in the series 2-1, Indian batters will have to successfully chase this low score.
However, the English seamers stand midway with some fiery spells. Maybe Archer could not do the job early despite having picked the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. This was followed by domination from English pacers Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and skipper Ben Stokes, who dismissed three more batters until the end of the day's play.
India are 58/4 at the end of play on Day 4, with KL Rahul not out at 33*.
