Former India captain Gautam Gambhir has lifted the lid on the recent shocking video he posted on X (formerly Twitter). The World Cup winner left everyone shocked by posting the video that showed former India captain Kapil Dev being kidnapped by a couple of men.

Kapil Dev’s mouth was covered by a cloth while his hands were tied too as he was being held hostage by those men. Sharing the video, Gautam Gambhir had hoped that Kapil Dev was fine and that the man in the video was not the World Cup-winning former captain of the Indian team.

Asking whether anyone else had received the same video, Gautam Gambhir wrote: “Anyone else received this clip, too? Hope it’s not actually @therealkapildev🤞and that Kapil Paaji is fine!”

The video had caused quite a stir on social media as worried fans desperately sought more information about the incident. Gautam Gambhir finally did it on Tuesday (September 26) by revealing that the video was part of a promo shoot for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.

“Areh @therealkapildev paaji well played! Acting ka World Cup bhi aap hi jeetoge! Ab hamesha yaad rahega ki ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is free on @DisneyPlusHS mobile,” Gautam Gambhir posted on Tuesday.

India all set to host World Cup 2023:

Meanwhile, India are all geared up to host the ODI World Cup alone for the first time. In the past, India had co-hosted the competition three times. The highly-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19.

A total of ten teams will be participating in the competition – India, Pakistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Sri Lanka. The tournament will be played across ten venues – Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Dharamsala, Delhi and Lucknow.

India are one of the favorites to win the World Cup as the Men in Blue are eyeing their third ODI World Cup title. The players will be desperate to join the World Cup winners’ club that features the likes of Kapil Dev and Gautam Gambhir. From the current Indian team that has been picked for the World Cup, only Virat Kohli has won the ODI World Cup so far. He was part of the team that won the tournament in 2011.

Gautam Gambhir was also a crucial member of the 2011 team while Kapil Dev had led India to the historic first World Cup title in 1983.
