Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir is facing the heat from the fans for his on-field fight with his former teammate S Sreesanth on Wednesday (December 6). The former India teammates were up against each other in the Legends League Clash in Surat.

While Gautam Gambhir was playing for India Capitals, S Sreesanth was representing Gujarat Giants. It was a high-scoring game as both teams scored more than 200 runs before India Capitals eventually won the game by 12 runs. Asked to bat first, the Capitals posted a huge total of 223 for 7 thanks to a whirlwind fifty from their captain Gambhir Gambhir.

The former India opener smashed 51 runs off just 30 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. Ben Dunk and Bharath Chipli also played crucial knocks for the Capitals. While Dunk scored 30 runs off 10 balls with the help of 4 fours, Chipli slammed 35 off just 16 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes.

In reply, the Giants fell short by 12 runs despite half-centuries from opener Chris Gayle and Kevin O’Brien. Gayle slammed 84 runs off just 55 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes while Kevin O’Brien scored 57 off 33. No other batsman could touch the 15-run mark as the Giants finished their innings on 211 for 7. For the Capitals, Rusty Theron and Ishwar Pandey picked up two wickets apiece.

The match, however, was marred by a huge controversy as Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth were involved in an ugly altercation. It all began when S Sreesanth gave a long stare to Gautam Gambhir after being hit for a six and a four. They were also seen saying something to each other later in the game.

After the game ended, S Sreesanth posted a video accusing his former India teammate of saying something unpleasant to him. And the fans were quick to slam the former batsman for the incident. Some fans also used the opportunity to call out Gambhir for his continuous attacks on Virat Kohli.
