Gautam Gambhir's tenure as Team India head coach has started on a perfect note. In his first assignment, Team India cleanly swept the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

India won the first game by 43 runs. After posting a big total of 213/7, the Men in Blue bowled out Sri Lanka for 170 runs to take the lead in the series. In the second game, India registered a 7-wicket win (DLS method) to clinch the series with a match remaining. After restricting Sri Lanka to 161/9, India chased down the revised total of 78 runs in less than 7 overs.

On Tuesday (July 30), India went on to register a miraculous win in the third T20I to complete a brilliant clean sweep. Asked to bat first, India finished their innings on a modest total of 137/9. At one stage, they were reeling at 48 for 5 and even the 100-run mark was looking tough at that time.

However, the visitors did well to post a 130-plus total. In reply, Sri Lanka also finished on 137/8 before India won the Super Over.
