India head coach Gautam Gambhir's Personal Assistant Gaurav Arora has been reportedly banned from staying with the Indian team after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced new guidelines.

Arora, who has been the PA of Gautam Gambhir for quite some time now, was staying with the team till the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. According to the reports, he was even seen in the breakfast area which was designated for only the players and the coaching staff.

However, the BCCI expressed its displeasure with Gaurav's continuous presence with the team. The board introduced a new set of guidelines after India's defeat in Australia and they seem quite strict on its implementation as well.

Gautam Gambhir's PA staying at a separate hotel

According to a report in PTI, the personal assistant of Gautam Gambhir, Gaurav Arora, has been asked to stay at a separate hotel. Even though he was visible in every venue of the home series against England, it is believed that he is staying at a different hotel.

"The personal secretary of a member of the coaching staff, who was regularly seen staying at the team hotel, now stays at a different facility even though he has been seen at every venue during the England home series," an official was quoted as saying by PTI.

Although the report didn't mention Gautam Gambhir's name, it became quite evident that it was his PA after it was found that none of the Indian coaching staff members have their personal assistants traveling with the team apart from the head coach himself.

Things have started to take a turn after BCCI's strict behavior as Gambhir's PA has kept a distance from the players and the official team meetings. Arora can be constantly seen in every India game but is not staying in the team hotel anymore.

BCCI officials unhappy with Gautam Gambhir's PA

A review meeting was conducted after India's defeat to Australia in which a BCCI official questioned Gaurav's presence in a car that was assigned only to national selectors. The official also questioned his presence in the BCCI's hospitality box during the Adelaide Test.

"Why was his PA sitting in the car specified for national selectors? They can't even discuss things in private with an unknown third person in the car. Why was he allotted space in the BCCI's hospitality box in Adelaide?" the official had argued back then.

"How did he have breakfast in the cordoned-off area of a five-star facility that is just earmarked for the team members?" he added.

BCCI's strict guidelines for centrally contracted players

The BCCI had introduced a set of guidelines after India's Test series loss in Australia. Among those guidelines was the compulsion to play domestic cricket for the centrally contracted players.

As a result, star cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Mohammed Siraj made themselves available for the Ranji Trophy and played for their respective domestic teams.

The players have also been limited to spending time with their families on tours. According to the new guidelines, the families can stay for not more than 2 weeks for a tour of 45 days or more.

If a tour is less than 45 days, the family can stay for a maximum of seven days with the player. Apart from this, the families won't be allowed to stay with the team for the first two weeks on a tour.
