Shubman Gill, on Thursday (February 15), failed with the bat once again in Tests as England made a solid start with the ball in the ongoing third Test in Rajkot.
The right-handed batsman was under immense pressure to deliver with the bat in the second Test after a string of failures. Before the second Test in Vishakhapatnam, the youngster had played nine innings at No. 3 with a high score of only 36. In the first innings, he got the start but failed to capitalize on it as he departed for 34.
However, he roared back to form in the second innings and scored a stunning fighting ton to lead India’s charge with the bat. With other batters failing to play big knocks, Shubman Gill’s 104-run knock turned out to be very important for India as they went on to win the game by 106 runs and draw level in the series.
Shubman Gill flops again:
Shubman Gill had his task cut out when he walked out to bat in the first innings of the ongoing third IND vs ENG Test. Captain Rohit Sharma won a good toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that looked extremely good for batting. However, India were off to a poor start as in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Mark Wood for just 10 runs.
The onus was on Shubman Gill to steady the ship for the hosts. With form on his side after his brilliant century in the last Test, the Punjab star had the opportunity to play another crucial knock for the team. However, he squandered the opportunity and departed for a 9-ball duck. He looked uncomfortable throughout his short stay at the crease before edging a delivery from Wood to Ben Foakes behind the stumps.

Shubman Gill won't find a better coach than Rahul Dravid to learn batting against the new ball that is jagging around a bit.
He negotiates short balls with aplomb but is visibly vulnerable against the ball that nips around.
Should tighten his technique.#ShubmanGill…

Shubman Gill surely can’t be your long term no.3 option , looking at his technique and footwork. If can get exposed on a flat deck at Rajkot , he can get exposed anywhere.@BCCI @imAagarkar @ShubmanGill @ImRo45 #INDvsENG #CricketTwitter
