Shubman Gill, who recently won the Polly Umrigar Award at the BCCI Awards, has found his low as he got out on a duck against England in the fourth innings. India is chasing 231 runs in the fourth innings after England was bundled for 420 in the third innings, taking a lead of 230 runs against India in the first Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium In Hyderabad.

Shubman Gill delivered a flop show in Hyderabad in both innings as he got out on 23 in the first innings and a duck in the second innings.

The 24-year-old batter has been struggling since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and his record in Test cricket has been shambolic, to say the least. Gill has played 21 Tests and has scored 1063 Tests at an average of 29.53 which includes four half-centuries and two centuries.

England’s No.3 Ollie Pope, gave a chance to his side to initiate a fightback but India’s No.3 have disappointed with his performance in red-ball cricket.

Gill has impressed in only one format with his stats and that is ODIs where he averages 61.38 and also has a strike rate of 103. He has not been able to convert his white-ball form to his red-ball game and has struggled with performances in Test cricket.

Fans have massively trolled Shubman Gill for his performance against England in the Test match and have heavily criticized the youngster.

He was called a prodigy but his inconsistency has led to severe criticism by fans and it is high time that he makes these opportunities count or else he can be replaced by someone else who performs better.
