Recently retired Pakistani speedster, Mohammad Amir urges the Pakistan management to end the ‘scary’ atmosphere in the dressing room. In December last year, Mohammad Amir announced a sudden retirement from international cricket citing ‘mental torture’ by the coaching staff.
Speaking to the media, Amir said that the players should be given their space and freedom. He hopes for the dressing room environment to get better for the mental health of the players.
As quoted by Timenownwes.com, Mohammad Amir said, “Give players some space and freedom. Put an end to this scary environment in the dressing room, these very players will win you matches.”

The left-arm pacer has expressed his disappointment and angst with the management, in particular, head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, and bowling coach, Waqar Younis after being dropped from the T20 squad to tour New Zealand – leading to his retirement at the age of 28.
I can make a strong comeback: Mohammad Amir
After Pakistan’s series against New Zealand, Misbah-ul-Haq and captain, Babar Azam revealed that Amir was dropped based on his form and not any other issues, and will be welcomed back if he returns to form and proves it in domestic cricket.
However, Amir says that he can’t bear the ‘mental torture’ by the coaching staff. He points out that his speed went down because he was injured and was tired. However, he picked his speed back up during the Bangladesh Premier League and the Lanka Premier League.

“The issue is not about performance I know I can make a strong comeback but it is about this mental torture they put you through. If this is not a personal issue then what is it,” My speed went down because I was not fully fit and fatigued. When I went to the Lanka Premier League I was fresh and I bowled at 145KPH,” Mohammad Amir added.
Mohammad Amir, who snared 259 international wickets, said he is frustrated and confused by the advice given by Misbah and Waqar and demands them to sort out among themselves first before speaking publically.
“One coach says speed does not matter what is important is taking 20 wickets (Waqar made the remarks when asked about the lack of speed of the bowlers in New Zealand) and the other coach says speed is important in international cricket (Misbah said this at his interaction). Who should we believe? First, think what you want to say then try to teach Amir,” said the former Pakistani pacer.
