Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has revealed his combined ODI XI comprising a pool of players from India, Australia, and England. The 37-year-old, however, brutally snubbed the English legends from his list.

The India vs Australia series is scheduled to begin this coming Sunday, with the two teams playing in a 3-match ODI series, and will then be followed by a five-match T20I series. Glenn Maxwell, the seasoned all-rounder, will miss the first two T20I matches but is likely to return for the third T20I match.

Glenn Maxwell has been kept out of participation due to an injury sustained to his wrist while bowling in the nets. With his return date still uncertain, the all-rounder would be hoping to take part in the series against the India National Cricket Team.

David Warner sidelined as Glenn Maxwell picked the Indian duo as the opening pair on his side

Veteran Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently appeared on Fox Cricket in an exclusive interview, where he was asked to pick a combined XI comprising players from Australia, India, and England. This came ahead of the India vs Australia series set to begin on the 19th of October.

For the opening slots, Maxwell was provided with the names of openers from all three nations, like Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Sachin Tendulkar, Jonny Bairstow, and Mark Waugh.

Not considering his former teammate, David Warner, for the opening spot, he picked the two Indian legends, Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, as openers for his side. He then went on to pick the middle-order batters.

Shane Watson was picked as an all-rounder, sidelining the greats of the game

In the middle-order batters list, he was asked to pick from a wide pool of players comprising legends from each country. Virat Kohli was the only Indian batter who was named, and Maxwell picked the former RCB teammate as the No. 3 batter.

Also, several middle-order players were named, like Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, and Michael Bevan. Maxwell named the two Australian greats for the remaining two spots in the combined XI, while Joe Root was once again sidelined.

Maxwell's most surprising pick was in the form of former Australian teammate Shane Watson. He sidelined the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Andrew Symonds, Steve Waugh, Andrew Flintoff, Ben Stokes, and Kapil Dev to prefer Watson as an all-rounder. Also, Maxi picked MS Dhoni as the team's wicket-keeper over Australian great Adam Gilchrist.

No England player named in Glenn Maxwell's combined XI

He further snubbed Australian legend and greatest-ever spinner in the World, Shane Warne, from the team and instead picked Indian great Anil Kumble as the spinner. The three pacers consisted of the legendary Aussie duo of Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath.

While Jasprit Bumrah was picked for the combined XI, he once again ignored English legend James Anderson. Maxwell rounded off his XI but picked no England player, with only Indian and Australian players named in the team.
