Australian batter Glenn Maxwell revealed that he plans to increase the security for his wedding in March after invitations for the same were leaked by certain ‘excited’ relatives.
Maxwell announced that he will be marrying his long-time girlfriend, Vini Raman, in a private ceremony. They printed out the invitation in Tamil which was posted by a relative and it ended up going viral. As a result, the security for the wedding will now have to be increased.
“It was not ideal. We’ve got to get extra security for the wedding now. It was supposed to be a private event and unfortunately, the relatives over in India just got a little bit excited and decided to show a few friends.”
“Next minute, it’s in pretty much every paper over there and I’m getting tweeted by pretty much everyone. So that was a shock. It’s been a busy couple of days,” Maxwell said in an interview with cricket.com.au.
Glenn Maxwell to miss Pakistan tour, early stages of IPL 2022
The date of Maxwell’s wedding is likely to clash with Australia’s tour of Pakistan and the early stages of the IPL 2022. Therefore, the explosive batter will end up missing the Pakistan tour and a few matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
“Originally when I organised the dates with CA there was a two-week gap where I could potentially have it. So when I sorted that out I was pretty happy that I wasn’t going to be missing in any series.”
“And then I came to the [CA] contract meeting midway through last year and they said well this is [when] the Pakistan series [is on] and I thought well obviously that’s changed since the last conversation we had,” Maxwell told Fox Sports during the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
Australia’s tour of Pakistan begins on March 29 while the IPL 2022 season is expected to start late March or early April at the least.
