So far in the IPL 2026, Sunil Narine has picked up one wicket in two games and has been ineffective with his bowling. The opponents are being watchful against him and not providing any wickets to the spinner, and attacking the other weaker bowlers in KKR’s unit. Narine has also dropped down from the opening position to no.8.
Sunil Narine to open for KKR in next game?
KKR have succeeded whenever Narine has performed with the ball and later on with the bat for the franchise. Narine was the leading run-getter in KKR’s 2024 IPL winning campaign, scoring 488 runs with a century and three fifties. The impact and the intent he brought to the game took the game away from the opponents.
Last year Narine also opened; however could not have the same impact, but this year he is yet to open the batting with KKR. Since arriving in 2012, Narine has stayed with the franchise and has picked 193 wickets in the IPL, the most by a KKR bowler in the tournament’s history.
Is KKR missing out on Sunil Narine, the opener? The management needs to find out the best combination for the side and let the 37-year-old all-rounder open the innings, as if he stays at the crease for 10 balls, he can destroy the opposition with his aggressive batting ability. However, as of now, Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane have been opening for the Knight.
Cameron Green ready to bowl in next game
Another piece of good news for KKR is that Cameron Green is reported to bowl in the upcoming game against LSG. It is reported that the Australian all-rounder has received the clearance certificate from Cricket Australia to bowl, and this will be a huge boost for the Knights in the next game and the tournament as well.
KKR is yet to find their first win of the IPL 2026 campaign, as in three matches they have lost two and were on the verge of losing the third, against PBKS, but rain saved the match, and they finally got one point from the PBKS game.
