Babar Azam is going through such a lean patch that his Pakistani hosts and former players didn’t think twice before making of their former captain in front of the public, and that too in the live TV show. As Babar Azam's poor form continues in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rashid Latif, Mohammad, Amir, and Ahmed Shehzad have ridiculed his slow innings against New Zealand.
Rashid Latif, Mohammad Amir, and Ahmed Shehzad appeared on the Geo News’ show ‘Haarna Mana Hai,’ where the host made fun of Babar for his 90-ball 64-run knock in Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener against New Zealand in Karachi.

His frustrating innings played a big role in the Men in Green’s embarrassing 60-run loss to the Black Caps last week. Now, their semifinal hopes are hanging by a thread. Currently, the Pakistan National Cricket Team is gearing up for the high-voltage clash with India in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday in Dubai.

Ahead of the do-or-die India-Pakistan match, Babar Azam didn’t do any practice on Saturday (February 22) in Dubai, and this move raised many eyebrows, especially given his poor form with the bat. The host of the show confirmed that Babar didn’t practice on Saturday on the show.
During the discussion, the hosts couldn't resist taking a dig at Babar, as he playfully questioned whether the team physio had advised him to relax and recover after such an intense session against the Black Caps in Karachi.
Babar has practiced a lot against New Zealand!!
Making fun of Babar, the host jokingly said, “He has practiced a lot. It's possible. 90 balls are a lot,” before sarcastically pointing out that it's possible that he is relaxing and it's necessary.
This left the guests and Rashid Latif, Mohammad Amir, and Ahmed Shehzad bursting into laughter, as the host was trolling Babar’s slowest innings of the tournament. After everyone laughed, the former pacer said that it could be a smart move that Babar took a break.
Amir has pointed out that overthinking can sometimes do more harm than good, and spending endless hours in the nets doesn’t always fix things. The former Pakistani fast bowler feels taking a step back, relaxing both body and mind and avoiding unnecessary pressure could help Babar reset and come back stronger.

It's a good thing if Babar Azam takes a mental break: Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir said on the show, “I think it's a good thing. If Babar takes a mental break... Sometimes overthinking isn't a good thing either. If things aren't going well, some players forcefully spend five to six hours in the nets, but sometimes that also won’t work.
It's a good thing that you sit and think that you don't have to do anything today. You have to relax your body and mind. As a player, I think overthinking bothers you a lot. So, you shouldn't overthink. If he takes a break, it's a good thing.”

Well, Latif agreed with Amir, but Shehzad suggested Babar take a break from the game, not just practice to get back into the grooves.
